Alexandria's Summer 2026, After the Tall Ships Sailed

Alexandria's Summer 2026, After the Tall Ships Sailed

The barge fireworks off Point Lumley ended around 9:30 on Saturday, June 13, and by Monday morning the Kalmar Nyckel had cast off. What most of Alexandria noticed next was quieter and, for anyone who actually lives inside 22314, more useful. The city is now three weeks into the version of summer that belongs to residents: a reworked King Street, five chef-driven openings still finding their rhythm, and a 250 program that keeps running long after the crowds thin. If you were out of town for Sails, here is what changed while you were gone.

The King Street you walk now is not the King Street from last July

The most permanent shift is underfoot.
