Logan Circle's P Street Block Is Being Refilled by Places That Open for Breakfast

The earliest open door on the 1400 block of P Street NW now unlocks at 7 a.m. Pura Vida took over the former Commissary space at 1443 P Street on August 20, 2026. Its posted hours run 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, with breakfast served all day.

Three more storefronts on the block are changing hands this fall. Taken together, the four tell one story. The tenants arriving on P Street sell coffee, pastries and lunch. The one evening concept announced so far is renovating half of a former tavern. The block is being refilled from the morning end of the day.

The block, door by door

As of October 8, 2026, here is where each address stands, walking from 14th Street toward 15th:

  • 1423 P Street NW, former Logan Tavern. Closed since October 2025. Petty Betty, described as a wine bar concept, is renovating one side of the retail space. Construction was scheduled to start August 17, 2026, with completion expected in August or September. No opening has been confirmed.
  • 1431 P Street NW, Pressed. The juice shop's closure was reported on July 13, 2026, as Pressed shut both of its D.C. locations. No successor has been named.
  • 1443 P Street NW, Pura Vida. Open since August 20. The menu covers all-day breakfast, coffee, tea, smoothies, salads and grain bowls, from egg sandwiches to avocado salmon.
  • 1460 P Street NW, former Planta Cocina. Kneads Bakeshop & Café put up "Opening Soon" signs in September. The Kneads locations page still lists Logan Circle as "Coming Soon," with no date or hours posted. That locations page and PoPville both give the address as 1460 P Street, but a separate Kneads announcement page lists 1454 P Street.

That makes one business open, two announced and one empty. The empty one is the juice bar. Both announced tenants and the one already open put morning food at the center of the menu, with breakfast available all day.

A bakery that needs 6,221 square feet

Kneads is the biggest bet on the block, and its address has more history than most on P Street. PoPville's September report traced 1460 P Street through Planta Cocina, a short run as Phillips Seafood and Steak, Tortilla Coast, and a McCormick Paint store before that.

The incoming tenant's announcement lays out the plan. The café will cover 6,221 square feet across a ground floor, a lower level and an outdoor patio. It promises artisan breads, fresh pastries, all-day breakfast and lunch, coffee and teas, and signature cocktails.

The size makes sense once you look at what else Kneads does. The company describes itself as a family business that started in Baltimore. The same announcement says it is launching a wholesale program, supplying breads and pastries to restaurants, hotels and businesses across the DMV. A space that big on P Street works as a café and also as a visible D.C. home for a bakery that sells to other businesses.

Logan Circle is not its only D.C. project. PoPville noted that Kneads is also coming to Navy Yard, and its signage went up in Friendship Heights around the same time.

The opening date is still open. The original announcement said "this summer," and by late September the sign on the building still said "Opening Soon." Anyone planning a weekend pastry run should check the Kneads site first.

The evening piece takes one side of a room

Logan Tavern held 1423 P Street, on the ground floor of The Hudson, until October 2025. The notice to Hudson residents that PoPville published in August was specific about scale. The renovation covers "one side of the retail space formerly known as Logan Tavern."

So the block's only announced nighttime newcomer is a wine bar in part of a former full-service restaurant. The notice names no operator and gives no hours, and nothing published since has confirmed an opening. The completion window in the August notice was "August/September 2026." That window has now passed with no public word. The other side of the old Logan Tavern space has no announced tenant.

None of this means P Street is going dark after sundown. Pura Vida serves until 9 p.m. most nights, and the Kneads announcement includes cocktails. What has changed is the shape of the day. The new operators open early and lead with breakfast, and dinner is one part of what they sell.

The same pattern one block in each direction

P Street is not the only place where turnover is moving the neighborhood's hours earlier.

On 11th Street, Pho Viet opened at 1521 11th Street NW on September 18, 2026. The owners scheduled a morning prayer and a lion dance before opening to customers at 11 a.m. The restaurant came from 3513 14th Street NW in Columbia Heights, which closed temporarily on September 14 for the move and a renovation.

On 14th Street, the next tenant keeps strict daytime hours. Da Hong Pao's farewell notice set May 3, 2026 as its last day at 1409 14th Street NW. By September, Bank of America signs were up at the old restaurant space. Work was underway, and no opening date had been posted.

The clearest exception is on Rhode Island Avenue. In June, PoPville reported that restaurateur Alfredo Solis was bringing La Loca to 1018 Rhode Island Avenue NW, with Mexican-style pizza, burritos, tacos and a bar. The license applicant was listed as Solis Food Group 3, LLC, trading as Cafeteria & Taqueria La Loca. In July, Solis told PoPville the restaurant would open in "late August." No later report has confirmed that it opened. If La Loca is running, it is the strongest evening addition on the neighborhood's edges this fall.

Where the new hours meet the fall calendar

The earlier start lines up with the neighborhood's next big daytime event. Friends of Stead Park lists the Little Goblins Parade 2026 for Saturday, October 24, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. It gathers at Ross Elementary, heads along 17th Street and ends at Stead Park.

That Saturday, P Street can supply the morning before the parade. Pura Vida opens at 7 a.m., hours before the 12:30 start a few blocks west, and Pho Viet opened its doors at 11 a.m. on its first day. If Kneads opens before then, its P Street café sits right on the walk from 14th Street toward 17th.

Three P Street addresses are worth watching over the next few weeks. Opening dates for Kneads at 1460 and Petty Betty at 1423 will settle how much of this fall's change is real and how much is still on signs. The Pressed space at 1431 has no tenant named, so it is the one address on the block where nobody has said what comes next.

Following a block like this one, address by address, is the kind of local knowledge Cox & Cox Group brings to every conversation about Logan Circle. If you live near P Street and want to know what these changes mean for your own building or rowhouse, contact us. Let's solve your home needs.
